The Scottish Parliament becomes the first in European to officially recognise Hindudphobia. Motion S6M-17089 which calls to condemn Hinduphobia was proposed by Alba Party Ash Regan, (MSP for Edinburgh Eastern). The motion was passed with cross party support. SNP party MSP, Kevin Stewart (Aberdeen Central), call out “alarming levels of prejudice, marginalisation, and discrimination” experienced by Scotland’s Hindu community.

This is achieved due to scotish hindu community support to highlight the anti hindus in Scotland. Scottish Hindu Foundation @scottish_hindu_foundation (SHF) has been advocating on this issue since 2022; acting as a bridge between Parliamentarians and diverse Scottish Hindu Communities. In January this year SHF held a conference in the Scottish Parliament where MSPs, Police Scotland, Interfaith Scotland, Hindu Societies and Armed Forces were invited to be a part of the discussion.

On April 4th, Georgia became the first American State to recognise Hinduphobia after Senate Bill 375 was passed. The bill proposed by Republican Senator, Shawn Still seeks for law enforcement agencies to document and tackle incidents of discrimination rooted in anti-Hindu bias.
