A Youth Died After Consuming 5 Bottle Of Liquor Without Water

A 21-year-old man, Karthik, died after consuming five bottles of raw liquor without water in a bet with friends in Mulbagal, Kolar district. The challenge, set by Venkata Reddy for a reward of Rs 10,000, turned fatal when Karthik fell critically ill and later died at Mulbagal Hospital.

Karthik, recently married and father to a newborn just eight days old, took up the bet in the presence of friends Venkata Reddy, Subramani, and three others.

Police have registered a case against six individuals at Nangali police station. Reddy and Subramani have been arrested, while a search is on for the remaining accused.

According to the WHO, alcohol consumption causes around 2.6 million deaths globally each year.
