Chinese tech giant Baidu has filed a bold patent for an AI system designed to decode animal sounds, potentially making it possible to translate your pet’s meows, barks, or chirps into human language.

The proposal system would use a combination of audio data, behavioural signals, and advanced machine learning technology to interpret the emotional states behind animal Localizations.

In theory, this could open the door to actual communication between humans and animals, or at least a better understanding of what our pets are trying to say.

While the technology is still in its early stages, Baisu claims the goal is to enable “deeper emotional communication and understanding” between humans and animals. If successful, it could transform everything from pet care to wildlife research.

That said, experts remain cautious. Despite years of scientific effort, truly understanding animal communication has proven incredibly difficult. Whether AI can finally crack the code remains one of the most fascinating frontiers in tech.
