External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar Has Rejected US President Donald Trump’s Claim That He Played A Role In Brokering A Aeasefire Between India and Pakistan

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has firmly rejected US President Donald Trump’s claim that he played a role in brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. In an interview with Dutch broadcaster NOS, Jaishankar clarified that there was no third-party involvement in the de-escalation process.
He emphasized that the matter was strictly between India and Pakistan, stating, “The US was in the United States,” highlighting that no external power intervened. Jaishankar further explained that India made it clear to all nations, including the US, that if Pakistan wanted to stop the conflict, the message had to come directly from them.
“We told everyone, not just the United States, that if the Pakistanis want to stop fighting, they need to tell us. Their general has to call our general and say this. And that is what happened,” he said.
When specifically asked about Trump’s claim of mediating the ceasefire, Jaishankar reiterated, “This is something between us and the Pakistanis. We propose to deal with it bilaterally.”
His remarks reaffirm India’s long-standing stance that any issues with Pakistan will be resolved through direct dialogue, without third-party involvement.
