Know About India’s First Solar Canal

Gujarat is using the 532 KM long Narmada canal to set up solar panels, generating electricity while saving land and reducing water evaporation. Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd. and the Gujarat State Electricity Corporation have collaborated to build this project on the top of the Narmada canal in Vadodara’ Gujarat. This project has a total length of 5.50 KM.
Vadodara solar canal plant is the first ever canal plant. KPGM which is always been at the front foot for closely recognizing engineering project has included this project in top100 innovative engineering projects across the globe.
Why Solar Canal Are Important?
- Solar canal can reduce water evaporation. About 80% of the fresh water is evaporated and traspired due to which we human can have a water shortage in future. So solar canal can be a nice way to prevent it.
- Solar panel has ability to generate electricity which can replace fossil fuels, which is the major reason for carbon emission.
