Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh – Himanshu Monga, Director-cum-Principal of Hydro Engineering College in Bandla, was arrested late Thursday night on charges of molesting female students, following the emergence of a disturbing video showing him allegedly molesting a girl student on a hospital bed.

The incident triggered massive outrage and led to a 4-5 hour-long protest by students on the college campus. Demonstrators burned an effigy of Monga, demanding immediate action. Police intervened and arrested the accused around 10 pm. The arrest was confirmed by Bilaspur Additional SP Shivkumar Chaudhary.

The controversy began when a former student of an engineering college in Sundar Nagar, Mandi, submitted a formal complaint to the Himachal Pradesh government, accusing Monga of past sexual misconduct. She later discovered similar allegations were surfacing at the Bandla campus as well.

In response, the government deployed an investigation committee to the college. The team recorded student testimonies and submitted its findings to the authorities. Reacting to the developments, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani expressed deep concern over the case, assuring that strict action would follow upon the conclusion of the inquiry.

Police have registered a case and confirmed that the survivor’s statement will be recorded in court on Friday. Officials have reiterated a zero-tolerance stance towards such offences, promising that justice will be delivered.
